the 5th of July
I had high hopes for today. I planned to finish my laundry, prepare for a new set of classes that begin tomorrow, go through mountains of belongings to rid myself of junk, and possibly move into the bigger bedroom down the hall. When I woke (after a wonderful, eight hour slumber, mind you), I heard the television hum from behind my mother’s door. Now we’re both watching “Nacho Libre” over coffee.
Neither of us was interested in ever watching it, but my grandfather purchased the dvd and insisted that we borrow it. He said that when he showed up at the checkout counter with the movie in hand, the girl at the register said, “Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.”
